CHOCOLATE CARAMEL OAT BARS (CARMELITAS) RECIPE BY TASTY
Here's what you need: quick oat, all purpose flour, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, melted butter, semi sweet chocolate chips, soft caramel candies, heavy cream

Steps:
- Preheat your oven to 350˚F (175˚C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, and melted butter. Mix until well combined and has a crumbly consistency.
- Line a 9x13 (22 x 33 cm) baking pan with parchment paper and lightly coat with a nonstick spray.
- Pour about ½ of the oat mixture into the pan and press with the back of a spoon or spatula until it's nice and compact. Save the other ½ of the oat mixture for later.
- Pour two cups (350 grams) of chocolate chips over the oat mixture and spread them out evenly. Save the ½ cup (85 grams) for the top.
- In a saucepan, melt the soft caramels, and the heavy cream until it becomes a smooth.
- Pour melted caramel over the chocolate chips and oat mixture. Carefully spread the caramel until it covers the chocolate.
- Pour the rest of the oat mixture over the caramel and spread out evenly.
- Add the other ½ cup of chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust has turned a golden brown. (Times and temperatures may vary from oven to oven). Allow to cool COMPLETELY before cutting into bars.

This recipe was adapted from recipe#124395 posted on this site (one of my all-time favorite bars!). These bars have a delicious chocolate-caramel filling, they are THE BEST!! the oat crust/topping bakes out tender and light.

Steps:
- Set oven to 350 degrees.
- Set oven rack to second-lowest position.
- Butter a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
- For the crust; in a large bowl mix together the cake mix with oatmeal, brown sugar and cinnamon.
- In a small bowl whisk together the melted butter, lemon juice and egg until well blended; add to the oat mixture, using clean hands combine the ingredients until mixture barely holds together.
- Sprinkle two-thirds of the oat mixture into the bottom of the pan; pat down with hands to spread evenly.
- Bake for 5 minutes.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle the partially baked crust with chocolate chips then nuts.
- For the filling; in a bowl combine combine the caramel topping with 3 tablespoons flour; blend well, then drizzle over the chocolate and nuts.
- Sprinkle with remaining oat topping, then gently press the oat mixture down slightly.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until the top is lightly browned).
- Let stand to cool enough to refrigerate, then chill.
- Slice into squares or bars.

Steps:
- Grease a baking tin approximatly 30x18cm. Preheat oven to 180c/350f/gas mark 5.
- Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.Stir in the oats,sieved flour and water to form a stiff mixture and press into the tin.
- Bake in the oven for twenty minutes. Meanwhile, melt the butter,condensed milk and brown sugar in a pan. Boil for 5 mins strirring continuosly. Por evenly over the cooked base and allow to cool.
- Melt the chocolate in a bowl over water in a suacepan at a low heat. Pour this over the caramel mixture and allow to cool
- Once completely cooled. Cut into chunky slices.
