This recipe came about after reading recipe #215139 by Redsie and then I starting playing! I took out some ingredients and added some others. The end result was a tasty comfort food casserole. Thanks Redsie for the Inspiration. Great one dish meal - Do ahead then pop in the oven 1 1/4 hours before dinner

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 lb extra lean ground beef
3/4 cup onion, Chopped
2 medium carrots, cleaned, sliced
1/2 cup tomato juice
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
4 cups cabbage, coarsely shredded
3 roma tomatoes, chopped
3 ounces low-fat cheese, shredded (your choice)
salt & pepper

Steps:

  • Brown the meat and onions.
  • Add carrots, tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, chili flakes.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Lightly spray a 2 1/2 quart casserole dish (with lid) with oil.
  • Put the cabbage in the bottom of the casserole dish.
  • Add the meat mixture on top.
  • Top with tomatoes.
  • Cover and bake in a 350°F oven for 1 hour.
  • Remove cover add cheese continue baking for a further 15 minutes.

1 head cabbage
1 lb hamburger
1 small onion, minced
1/3 cup rice, uncooked
10 1/2 ounces tomato soup
10 1/2 ounces water

Steps:

  • Chop cabbage into large pieces and place in crockpot.
  • Brown hamburger and onion, pour off fat.
  • Add rice to hamburger and stir until rice turns clear.
  • Put rice and hamburger on top of cabbage.
  • Cover with tomato soup mixed with 1 soup can of water.
  • Cook on low for 8 hours.
