I make lots of different casseroles and dishes for my daughter and her family. It is so much easier for me to give her this mix, she freezes it and when it's time to use it, the base is available for several recipes they love. **Super stews begin with braised beef.

5 lb stew meat, cut in small chunks
1 pkg (1-3 /8 oz) onion soup mix
2 bay leaves
2 can(s) (10 1/2 oz) cream of mushroom soup
1 can(s) (10 1/2 oz) golden mushroom soup
1 can(s) (10 1/2 oz) cream of celery soup
1 quart water

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 300F degrees. Combine all ingredients in a large covered casserole or Dutch oven. Stir until well blended. Bake 3-4 hours until meat is tender. Cool. Put into eight 1-pint freezer containers, leaving 1/2 inch space at top. Seal and label containers. Freeze. Use within 3 months. MAKES sbout 8 pints BRAISED BEEF CUBE MIX.

1 (2 ounce) can condensed golden mushroom soup
1 (2 ounce) can cream of celery soup
1 quart water

  • Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Combine all ingredients in a large covered casserole or dutch oven. Stir until well-blended.
