Number Of Ingredients 7

8-10 Family-size tea bags
2 cups granulated sugar
8 cups boiling water
2 cups ice-cold water
2 6-ounce containers fresh raspberries
1/4 cup water
Plenty of ice

Steps:

  • In a gallon pouring pitcher, steep 8-10 family-size tea bags in boiling water. Stir in the sugar immediately, so it dissolves. Let the tea bags steep for about 20-25 minutes.
  • While the tea bags steep, soften the raspberries in a medium saucepan over medium heat with 1/4 cup of water. Press the berries through a fine mesh strainer into a large Pyrex measuring cup. Discard the pulp and seeds.
  • Remove the tea bags. Add the berry juices into the tea. Stir. Add 2 cups cold water and plenty of ice to the pouring pitcher. Pour over ice and enjoy.

BOBBER'S NOT TOO SWEET RASPBERRY ICE TEA

Bobber's Not Too Sweet Raspberry Ice Tea image

I LOVE raspberry iced tea when it's not too sweet... this is the result of my tweaking efforts during the summer of 2010... Enjoy! This recipe requires a clean 1 gallon non-reactive container for storage.

Categories     Beverages

Time 30m

Yield 1 Gallon, 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

9 tea bags (9 regular size or 3 family size hot brew tea bags, I prefer Lipton)
1 cup sugar (heaping)
1 quart boiling water
3 quarts cold water (or ice and water)
3/8 cup raspberry flavored syrup (I use a brand named DaVinci)

Steps:

  • Boil 1 quart of water, remove from heat, add tea bags and steep for 20 minutes.
  • While tea is steeping, place sugar in 1 gallon container.
  • After steeping is complete, drain tea bags back into tea and discard bags.
  • Add hot steeped tea to sugar in 1 gallon container and stir well (until all the sugar dissolves).
  • Add about 3 quarts of cold/ice water to 1 gallon container, (leave a little room for the syrup) -- stir well.
  • Last, add 3/8 cup raspberry syrup to entire mixture and stir well. (Adding the syrup to the 1 quart of concentrated hot tea earlier results in a slight bitterness I did not like).
  • Place in refrigerator until well chilled, serve over ice -- Enjoy!

Categories     Beverages

Time 20m

Yield 1 Gallon

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 cups water, boiling
2 family-size tea bags or 10 individual black tea bags
2 -3 individual red raspberry tea bags (use 3 bags if you prefer a stronger raspberry flavor)
10 -12 cups cold water
ice cube

Steps:

  • In a tea kettle or small saucepan, boil water.
  • Place tea bags into a glass 2-cup measuring cup. Carefully pour boiling water over the tea bags until the water reaches the 2-cup line. Steep for 15-30 minutes.
  • Carefully remove tea bags, allowing excess tea liquid to drip off. If you like, gently squeeze the bunch of tea bags, but be careful because they will still be hot.
  • If using a measuring cup or heat-resistant container, pour tea concentrate into a 1-gallon pitcher (4 quarts).
  • Pour in 12 cups cold water and stir gently.
  • Chill until ready to serve.
  • Pour into glasses filled 1/4-full of ice and enjoy!
