BLOOD AND SAND COCKTAIL
This long forgotten Prohibition-era cocktail is named for the 1922 movie starring Rudolph Valentino. It is the movie which, on his death bed, he stated he'd like to be his legacy. Try this drink straight up, and toast one of the most revered actors of silent film.

Steps:
- Combine Scotch, sweet vermouth, orange juice, and brandy in a cocktail shaker. Add ice, cover, and shake until chilled. Strain into a chilled glass.

Steps:
- Fill a large cocktail shaker with ice. Add the Scotch, vermouth, cherry liqueur, beet juice, lime juice and pomegranate juice. Attach the shaker and lid and shake well until chilled.
- Rub the lime wedge along the rims of 4 chilled coupe glasses. Pour the black sugar onto a shallow dish and dip the rims of the glasses into the sugar.
- Strain the cocktail into each glass and garnish each with a cherry.
