Steps:
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F ( 205 degrees C ) and set out a large casserole dish.
- In a large skillet over medium high heat, add the ground beef and allow it to cook until browned. Break the ground beef up while cooking. *If you want to add onion or green peppers, cook with the ground beef.
- Once the hamburger is browned and the grease has been drained, add the brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Wright's hickory liquid smoke, and season with ground black pepper. Stir well to combine. *You can use either light brown sugar or dark brown sugar, if you have dark brown sugar on hand it will add a deeper flavor from the higher molasses content.
- Open your cans of Bush's Original Recipe Baked Beans and drain off the liquid that is settled at the top of the can. Add the beans to the ground beef mixture, stir just enough to mix well then transfer into your casserole dish.
- Cut your bacon into 1/2 wide strips and place cut bacon onto baked beans, or use kitchen shears and cut the strips directly onto the beans in the casserole dish.
- Bake uncovered at 400 degrees F ( 205 degrees C ) for 30 minutes. If you want extra crispy bacon, broil for 5 minutes after baking.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Cook the pancetta and about two-thirds of the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until crisp, about 10 minutes. Transfer the bacon and pancetta to a bowl using a slotted spoon. Reserve the drippings in the skillet.
- Add the onion to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft and golden, about 8 minutes. Add the ginger, garlic and chili powder and cook, stirring, 1 minute. Add the tomatoes and their juice, the molasses, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, mustard powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and pepper to taste. Increase the heat to medium high, bring to a simmer and cook until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes. Add the pinto beans, then add the navy beans and their liquid and return to a simmer. Stir in the pancetta-bacon mixture. Transfer to a 2-quart baking dish.
- Pulse the buns with the remaining uncooked bacon in a food processor until finely ground. Sprinkle the crumbs evenly over the bean mixture. Cover and bake 45 minutes, then uncover and bake until the crumbs are golden brown, about 20 more minutes.
