BARBECUED HOT DOGS OVER RICE

Barbecued Hot Dogs over Rice image

My sister shared this "creation" of hers with me when I was a new bride and needed something quick to fix and also one that wouldn't break the bank. After 33 years of marriage there are still times when my hubby will request this. The add-ins possibilities are endless. I have added mushrooms, green or red peppers, olives, etc....

Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 pkg hot dogs, sliced into rounds
1 can(s) tomato soup or manwich sloppy joe sauce
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 small green pepper, seeded and chopped
1 Tbsp chili powder..more or less to taste
3 c hot cooked rice
2 tsp oil

Steps:

  • 1. In large skillet heat oil. Add onions and peppers and saute until softened. Add sliced hotdogs, sprinkle with approx 1/2 the chili powder and saute until lightly browned. You can just cook them until heated through, it is your preference. Add tomato soup or Manwich and chili powder. Simmer until all ingredients are heated through. My sister's original recipe called for the tomato soup. I just recently tried with with the Manwich and it is also good. Again it is a flavor preference.
  • 2. Serve over hot cooked rice or noodles, or mashed potatoes. Like I said the possibilities are endless.
