Asian Marinade for Fish or Shrimp image

I found this recipe on the internet. It was originally for tuna steaks, but I've found that it is just as delicious for catfish and other white fish fillets, and for shrimp. Original recipe is for 1 pound of fish, but I think this makes enough to marinate a bit more than that. Preparation time includes 20 minutes marinating time.

GRILLED SKIRT STEAK WITH HOMEMADE ASIAN BARBEQUE MARINADE

Grilled Skirt Steak with Homemade Asian Barbeque Marinade image

The problem with bottled sauces and marinades is that the only words you recognize on the ingredients list are 'high fructose corn syrup,' and 'dehydrated garlic.' Hopefully, you will see just how simple this sauce is to make. Not only is it MSG-free, but the flavor is far superior to any of those supermarket bottles.

ASIAN PORK STEAKS (MARINADE)

Asian Pork Steaks (Marinade) image

My Vietnamese fiance taught this to me. It has a strong flavor, so I serve it over a bed of rice with steamed veggies on the side. Regular Soy sauce works fine, but I prefer the low-sodium to ease the saltiness. You can fry, grill or broil the steaks, depending upon your taste. Very simple though! Prep time includes marinating, and cook time is for frying the steaks. --ETA-- I've made these as a dump recipe, and they worked great! I pour all the ingredients into a freezer bag, and when I wanted to cook them, I let them thaw overnight in the fridge. NOTE-- When you marinate them in a zippered bag, you only need half of the sauce to cover all the pork.

Categories     Pork

Time 6h15m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 1/2 lbs pork steaks (bone in works fine, as does other pork cuts)
1 cup teriyaki marinade

1 -2 teaspoon diced green onion (optional)

Steps:

  • Combine teriyaki, soy sauce, and garlic in a large zipped bag or casserole dish.
  • Add pork steaks and marinate 6 hours or overnight for more flavor (turning occasionally).
  • Fry the pork steaks over medium heat, with enough oil covering the bottom of the pan for 5-7 minutes per side (add more time for thicker cuts of pork).
  • OR You can broil the steaks in a 350°F oven for about 45 minutes, turning once after 20 minutes (depending upon thickness).

GRILLED FILET MIGNON IN A TANGY ASIAN MARINADE

GRILLED FILET MIGNON IN A TANGY ASIAN MARINADE image

Categories     Beef     Grill/Barbecue

Yield Serves 1 person per cut of Filet.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 Filet Mignon per person*
1 1/2 tablespoons crushed garlic
3 tablespoons soy sauce
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 cup high quality olive oil
This marinade will easily accommodate 6 steaks

Steps:

  • In a large mixing bowl add the garlic, soy and mustard. Whisking constantly and briskly, slowly pour in the olive oil. The oil will be incorporated by the soy-mustard-garlic mix and will form a thick light brown paste that will not separate afterwards. Do not add the oil faster than it can be incorporated by the soy-mustard mix. Only use enough oil to create the volume of marinade needed for your steaks (generally between 2/3 cup and 1 cup oil). Add the Filets to the bowl of marinade, covering them thoroughly. Cover and let sit from one to three hours (longer for more flavor) in the refrigerator. Take the bowl out of the refrigerator 1 hour prior to cooking to allow the meat to warm slightly before cooking. Preheat a covered BBQ grill to a fairly hot temperature. Place the Filets, still covered in marinade on the grill. Cover, and turn occasionally (basting with marinade each time) to your preferences of doneness - approximately 4 to 6 minutes per side depending on thickness. Remove from heat and let the meat rest 5 to 7 minutes in a serving pan (meat will continue cooking while resting; resting is important to allow the juices in the steak to expand from the center and infuse the entire cut). Drizzle accumulated pan juices on each Filet when serving. Serve with your choice of side dishes (some suggestions include corn salad, grilled corn on the cob, roasted new potatoes, and crusty French bread).

ASIAN PORK MARINADE FOR KEBABS

Asian Pork Marinade for Kebabs image

This is an Asian style marinade for pork chunks that happens to be sugar free. Skewer the pork chunks to either broil or bbq. Serve with white or brown rice and with an Asian-flavored cabbage salad with rice vinegar and ginger.

Provided by KWB5015

Categories     Pork

Time 36m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/4 cup hoisin sauce
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1/2 lemon, juice of (or of one whole lime)
3 tablespoons fresh ginger, grated or minced
1/4 cup onion, grated or minced
3 garlic cloves, grated or minced
4 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
3 cardamom pods, crushed
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
2 lbs pork, cut into chunks

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients.
  • Add pork and toss to coat. Refrigerate 1-3 hours.
  • Skewer pork and bbq or broil until done--doneness will depend on the size of the pork chunks and how far from your heat source you are. I usually do 1-1 1/2" chunks and broil 3-4" from the heat for 5-6 minutes per side.
