Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 pound bacon strips, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/3 cup olive oil
3 cans (15 ounces each) tomato puree
6 fresh basil leaves, thinly sliced
1/2 to 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
3 cups uncooked penne pasta
Grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove to paper towels with a slotted spoon; discard drippings., In the same skillet, saute garlic in olive oil for 1 minute. Add the tomato puree, basil, pepper flakes and bacon. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes to allow flavors to blend, stirring occasionally., Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package directions; drain. Serve with sauce; sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 pound Fusilli Pasta
1/3 C Olive Oil
½ tsp. Garlic, finely chopped
2 oz. Pancetta
3C canned whole peeled tomatoes, chopped into pieces
¼ tsp. Red pepper flakes
12 medium-sized fresh basil leaves, torn into ½ inch pieces
2 Tablespoons grated romano

Steps:

  • Heat oil in large skillet and cook garlic until it begins to sizzle. Add pancetta strips and cook until brown but not crisp. Add canned chopped tomatoes, red pepper flakes and salt ( don't add salt if pancetta is already salty.) Reduce heat and simmer until tomatoes have reduced and separated ( about 30-40 minutes) Cook pasta. Drain and toss with sauce. Stir in grated cheese
