HOT TURKEY HORSESHOE SANDWICH



Hot Turkey Horseshoe Sandwich image

Yield 4 open-faced sandwiches

Number Of Ingredients 14

One 32-ounce bag frozen french fries
Garlic salt, for sprinkling
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup whole milk
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon sriracha
1 cup shredded English Cheddar
1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 pound good quality roasted turkey, sliced thin
4 slices Texas toast, buttered and griddled until golden
Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Sliced pickled cherry peppers, for garnish

Steps:

  • Cook fries according to package instructions. Place in a large bowl, then sprinkle with garlic salt and set aside.
  • Meanwhile, melt butter in a medium pan over medium heat, then add flour and whisk until blonde. Whisk in milk, Worcestershire and sriracha and bring to a simmer, then cook until thickened, 3 to 5 minutes. Whisk in both cheeses until melted. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  • Place a couple slices of turkey on the griddled Texas toast, then a pile of French fries; ladle the cheese sauce over the entire thing. Garnish with some parsley and some pickled peppers.

turkey
cranberry sauce (any kind)
mayonnaise
cream cheese
salt
pepper

Steps:

  • Spread mayo on one slice of bread.
  • Spread turkey on this slice.
  • Sprinkle salt and pepper on turkey.
  • Spread cream cheese on the other slice of bread.
  • Spread cranberry sauce on this slice.
  • Put the sandwich together.
  • You know what to do now!

The classic day after Thanksgiving sandwich, this recipe is the equivalent of eating Thanksgiving dinner all over again but in one simple sandwich. Some people, who shall remain nameless, do The Gobbler as an open faced sandwich to which they pour warmed up leftover gravy over the top of each piled high slice and dig in with knife and fork. You can also dip the sliced turkey into leftover gravy when building your sandwich. So many ways to make and so little time to eat....

mayonnaise (yellow or Dijon) or mustard (yellow or Dijon)
sandwich bread (white, wheat, sourdough, rye, french roll)
leftover turkey, sliced
lettuce leaf (needs to be crunchy)
tomatoes, slices
leftover prepared stuffing
leftover prepared cranberry sauce
leftover prepared gravy (optional)

Steps:

  • Spread mayonnaise or mustard on 1 slice of bread. Pile on turkey, lettuce and tomato.
  • Top with a few tablespoons each stuffing and cranberry sauce, then sandwich with another slice of bread.

1 tsp. GREY POUPON Dijon Mustard
1 KRAFT Singles
4 slices OSCAR MAYER Deli Fresh Oven Roasted Turkey Breast
2 slices tomato

Steps:

  • Spread 1 bread slice with 1 tsp. dressing; spread remaining bread slice with mustard. Fill bread slices with Singles, turkey and tomatoes.
  • Spread outside of sandwich with remaining dressing.
  • Cook in skillet on medium heat 3 min. on each side or until golden brown on both sides.
