SLOW-COOKER ALFREDO GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE

This version has the great taste you crave, but it cooks itself in your slow cooker--proving that all green bean casseroles are not created equal!

2 bags (1 lb each) frozen cut green beans
1 can (8 oz) sliced water chestnuts, drained
1/2 cup roasted red bell peppers (from 7-oz jar), cut into small strips
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 container (10 oz) refrigerated Alfredo pasta sauce
1 can (2.8 oz) French-fried onions

Steps:

  • Spray inside of 3- to 4-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. In large bowl, mix all ingredients except onions. Stir in half of the onions; spoon mixture into slow cooker.
  • Cover; cook on Low heat setting 3 to 4 hours, stirring after 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
  • About 5 minutes before serving, in 6-inch skillet, heat remaining half of onions over medium-high heat 2 to 3 minutes, stirring frequently, until hot. Stir bean mixture; sprinkle with onions.

Saw this recipe and switched it up to suit our tastes. This is delicious and a great update on the regular green bean casserole. Hope you all enjoy it!

1 tablespoon(s) butter
1 package(s) alfredo sauce
1 1/2 cup(s) milk, whole
1/4 cup(s) parmesan cheese, grated
4 ounce(s) pancetta, diced
2 - garlic cloves, minced
2 cup(s) mushrooms, fresh, sliced thin
1 cup(s) onion, diced
2 can(s) green beans, drained
1 cup(s) french fried onions
1/4 cup(s) parmesan cheese, grated

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • In a small pan, combine butter, alfredo mix, milk, and 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese. Bring to simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Saute pancetta over medium heat until almost brown, drain off excess fat. Add onions, garlic and mushrooms. Saute 3 minutes or until softened.
  • In large mixing bowl combine green beans, alfredo sauce, ingredients in saute pan and 1/2 cup of french fried onions. Mix well.
  • Place mixture in casserole dish and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Remove dish from oven. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of french fried onions and 1/4 cup parmesan cheese on top of casserole. Bake for an additional 10 minutes. Eat and enjoy!

2 (9 ounce) packages frozen green beans, thawed
1 (2 7/8 ounce) can French fried onion rings
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Combine Alfredo sauce, beans, 1/2 of the onions and pepper.
  • Place in a 1 1/2 quart baking dish and sprinkle with Parmesan.
  • Bake 25 minutes or until bubbling.
  • Top with remaining onions and bake 5 minutes.

Wasn't brave enough to try this out for Thanksgiving since my family may have lynched me due to the fact that they have me make 2 casserole dishes of the traditional cream of mushroom green bean casserole every year, but I do want to try it soon.

1 Tbsp butter
1 pkg alfredo sauce mix
1 1/2 c whole milk
1 1/4 c grated parmesan cheese
4 oz penchetta diced
2 clove garlic minced
2 c fresh mushrooms sliced
1 lb frozen cut green beans
1 Tbsp pepper
2 1/2 c canned crispy onions

Steps:

  • 1. Heat saucepan to medium add butter, alfredo sauce, milk, and parmesan cheese. Bring to a simmer and keep stirring until thickened, then set aside.
  • 2. Fry italian bacon (panchetta) until light brown, then add garlic, and mushrooms while continuing to fry it. About 3-4 minutes longer until tender. Set aside.
  • 3. In 8x8 casserole dish place thawed green beans, add your alfredo mixture, add your fried mixture, ground pepper, and 1/2 cup of crispy onions. Stir all together. Bake for 20 minutes on 350.
  • 4. Take out of oven, top with remaining crispy onion and rest of parmesan cheese, bake another 10 minutes.

This is a super-simple recipe that I got off the back of a fettucini box and tried on my kids during their "picky months"...They LOVED it! It's so simple, I'm almost afraid to post it...But I wanted to save it because the kids ask for it a lot.

8 ounces fettuccine pasta
1 1/4 cups prepared alfredo sauce (I use Classico Alfredo with sun dried tomatoes)
2 (14 ounce) cans cut green beans, drained
1 1/4 cups cooked chicken strips (I usually use Tyson frozen Chicken Fajita Strips)
2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon fresh basil (finely chopped) or 1 teaspoon sage (finely chopped)

Steps:

  • Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and butter liberally. Return to saucepan.
  • Meanwhile, heat Alfredo sauce, green beans and chicken in a medium saucepan. Stir. Toss well with hot pasta.
  • Transfer to serving dish. Sprinkle with cheese. Garnish with basil or sage.

1 can(s) sliced mushrooms
2 c french fried onions, divided
1 jar(s) (15 oz.) roasted garlic alfredo sauce
1/2 c evaporated milk

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix drained green beans in a medium bowl. Add small can of sliced mushrooms, half of french fried onions, alfredo sauce and evaporated milk and stir well. Place in 9 by 9 greased baking dish. Bake for 35 minutes or until bubbly. Top with remaining onion rings during last 10 minutes of baking. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
