Add a little sparkle to your Fourth of July gathering with these easy brownies! Transform a basic box of brownies into a red, white and blue dessert that'll be sure to jazz up any party. Just stick with Betty's box of fudge brownie mix for a no-fail dessert every time-you can get creative with different icings and gels to create fun designs like stars, flags and even firecrackers. Don't forget the sprinkles!

1 box Betty Crocker™ fudge brownie mix
Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on brownie mix box
1 container Betty Crocker™ Whipped fluffy white frosting
1 tube (0.68 oz) Betty Crocker™ red decorating gel
1 tube (0.68 oz) Betty Crocker™ blue decorating gel
1 tube (0.68 oz) Betty Crocker™ white decorator icing
Betty Crocker™ Decorating Decors stars

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Line 13x9-inch pan with foil so foil extends about 2 inches over sides of pan. Spray foil with cooking spray. Make and bake brownies as directed on box. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
  • Remove brownies from pan by lifting foil; peel foil from sides of brownies. Continue as desired with options below. Flag Brownies: Frost brownies. Using red decorating gel, pipe stripes onto frosted brownie. Add decors in upper left corner of brownie. 24 brownies Firecracker Brownies: Using 1-inch round cookie cutter, cut out brownie rounds. Stack 2 brownie rounds together, spreading frosting between rounds and on top. Garnish with decors. 48 brownies Star Brownies: Using 2 1/2-inch star-shaped cookie cutter, cut brownies. Place frosting in resealable food-storage bag; cut off one bottom corner of bag. Pipe frosting on star-shaped brownies. Sprinkle with decors. 13 brownies

These are really delicious brownies. I adapted the brownie recipe from another recipe and added my own holiday pizzazz for our 4th of July celebration! Serve heated up or at room temperature. Enjoy!

1 tablespoon vegetable oil, or as needed
⅔ cup unsalted butter
1 ¼ cups white sugar
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
⅓ cup all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups white chocolate chips, divided
3 drops red food coloring, or as desired
3 drops blue food coloring, or as desired
3 tablespoons red and blue candy-coated milk chocolate pieces (such as M&M's®), or as desired, divided

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a 9-inch baking pan with parchment paper. Grease parchment paper with vegetable oil.
  • Melt butter in a microwave in a microwave-safe bowl; stir until smooth. Pour in sugar, cocoa powder, water, and vanilla extract. Stir until well blended.
  • Pour eggs into batter and mix until batter becomes shiny. Stir in flour quickly until thoroughly combined. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 25 to 35 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool for at least 30 minutes before transferring to the refrigerator to cool completely, about 30 minutes more.
  • Place 1/2 cup white chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave until melted, 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Stir until well blended and mixture is smooth and yogurt-like in consistency.
  • Stir red food coloring into white chocolate chips until it reaches your desired shade.
  • Remove brownies from the refrigerator. Spread red-colored chocolate over the top in a stripe. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon red and blue candy-coated chocolate pieces before it hardens.
  • Melt another 1/2 cup white chocolate chips in a microwave. Stir until smooth.
  • Stir blue food coloring into white chocolate chips until it reaches your desired shade. Spread onto top of brownies for a second stripe. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon andy-coated chocolate pieces.
  • Melt remaining 1/2 white chocolate chips in a microwave. Spread onto top of brownies for a third stripe. Sprinkle with remaining tablespoon of candy-coated chocolate pieces.
  • Transfer brownies to a refrigerator to allow chocolate to harden for at least 30 minutes.

1 pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
3 cups cold milk
2 pkg. (3.9 oz.) JELL-O Chocolate Flavor Instant Pudding Pudding
1 tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed, divided
1 baked 9-inch square brownie layer, cooled, cut into 1-inch cubes (about 5-1/2 cups)
1 qt. (4 cups) strawberries, quartered
2 cups JET-PUFFED STARMALLOWS Marshmallows

Steps:

  • Beat cream cheese in large bowl with mixer until creamy. Gradually beat in milk. Add dry pudding mixes; beat 2 min. Whisk in 2 cups COOL WHIP.
  • Layer 1/2 each brownies, berries and pudding mixture in 2-1/2-qt. glass bowl. Line edge of bowl with 1-1/2 cups marshmallows. Repeat layers of brownies, berries and pudding mixture.
  • Top with remaining COOL WHIP and marshmallows. Refrigerate 1 hour.
