BEST EVER BEAN CASSEROLE-Doris St John image

My Mom, Doris St. John, made these beans since the 1970s. They are great for BBQs, and picnics, or any large gathering. I am not sure where she got the recipe, but these beans are addictive...once you have a bite you can't stop! Miss you Mom!????

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/2 pound(s) bacon
1 - chopped onion
1 teaspoon(s) dry mustard
1/3 cup(s) cider vinegar
1-15 ounce(s) can butter beans
1-15 ounce(s) can green beans
1-15 ounce(s) can kidney beans
1-15 ounce(s) garbanzo beans
1-28 ounce(s) can baked beans
1/2 cup(s) brown sugar, firmly packed

Steps:

  • Preheat oven 350 degrees
  • Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium-high until evenly brown. Drain, crumble, and set aside.
  • Sauté onion in bacon fat; add the brown sugar, mustard, and vinegar.
  • Cook on low for 10 minutes.
  • In a large baking dish or roasting pan, combine butter beans, green beans, kidney beans, garbanzo beans and baked beans.
  • Add bacon mixture
  • Mix well, and bake covered for 1 hour. Uncover and bake 30 minutes longer.
  • Enjoy!
