Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts image

On the fence if you like water chestnuts? One bite and you are sold. I guarantee you will be asked to make these over and over again. I quadruple this recipe because they go so fast. Perfect for tailgating, holiday parties, and any occasion you might be wanting to take something a little more impressive.

8 oz can whole water chestnuts, drained
1/4 c soy sauce
1/2 c light brown sugar
8 slice bacon

Steps:

  • 1. Marinate the water chestnuts in soy sauce for 1 hr. Then drain.
  • 2. Roll each chestnut in a 1/4 c. brown sugar making sure to coat well. Reserve the other 1/4 c. brown sugar to end before baking.
  • 3. Wrap each chestnut with 1/2 slice of bacon. Secure with a tooth pick.
  • 4. Arrange on a cake rack in a shallow baking pan. Cover tops of chestnuts with remaining 1/4 c. of brown sugar.
  • 5. Bake at 400 degrees F for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 6. Drain on paper towels.
  • 7. ** This can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator until ready to bake.
