Apple Pie with No Added Sugar image

½ (12 fluid ounce) can frozen unsweetened apple juice concentrate, thawed
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon salt
6 medium apples - peeled, cored, and sliced
1 (9 inch) double crust ready-to-use pie crust
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 pinch ground nutmeg, or to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
  • Combine apple juice concentrate, flour, cinnamon, and salt in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until thick and bubbly, 3 to 5 minutes. Stir in apples.
  • Pour the mixture into the unbaked pie shell and dot with butter.
  • Position the top crust over the filling, cutting slits for the steam to escape. Trim and seal the edges. Brush the top very lightly with water and sprinkle with nutmeg.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees (175 degrees C) and continue to bake until golden and bubbly, about 30 minutes more.
