Yield 15 people

Number Of Ingredients 4

15 thick slices of bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
2-1/2 (18 ounce) packages of frozen green beans [cut or whole; I chose the whole ones]
1/2 c. and 2 T. butter
1/2 c. and 2 T. packed brown sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Fry the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until done, but not quite crispy [about 9 minutes]. Drain off grease and add butter and brown sugar. Cook and stir over medium heat until sugar has dissoved. Remove from the heat and set aside {I already have my bacon cut, fried, and drained; so I use about 1 T. of the bacon grease to add to my butter and sugar mixture]. 2. Place the green beans into a pot and fill with about one (1) inch of water. Bring to a boil then cover; and steam over medium heat until cooked through [about five (5) minutes]. Drain off water and stir in the sugar and bacon mixture. Serve IMMEDIATELY. I do this dish last whenever I serve it. Recipe can be cut in half for smaller portions.
